The Plot: Three decades after RETURN OF THE JEDI, there’s a new threat that wants to rule the galaxy, The First Order. Once again, only the Resistance can stop them and they can use the help of Finn (John Boyega), an ex-Stormtrooper, and Rey (Daisy Ridley), a young woman who has the Force inside of her.
The Best: The chemistry between Rey, Finn and BB8, plus the return of Han Solo. I also liked new character Maz Kanata.
The Worst: Kylo Reno is the worst and most pathetic villain of the entire saga.
The cast: Newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega fit perfectly in the spirit of the story and so does Oscar Isaac as Poe, although I wish he had more to do. It’s great to see Harrison Ford returning to his roots. As Kylo Reno, Adam Driver didn’t convince me; he has a sly look that doesn’t suit the character. Domhnall Gleeson is too much overacting as the Nazi inspired General Hux.
The Movie: After the terrible and forgettable prequel trilogy, thanks to J. J. Abrams the saga is back on the right track. It’s true, the plot looks more as a remake of the first STAR WARS than a sequel, but it’s a joy to watch. The special effects look real and are the best of all series; the same can be said about the strange creatures that populate the movie. I love the fun the movie delivers and the fact nothing and no one takes things seriously, but I was hoping its dark side was darker and more menacing. Although I liked it, the truth is this doesn’t bring anything new to the story; it’s more of the same. Let’s hope things get better and darker on the next episode. Let the force be with its creators!
Thanks Bradley, but a movie like this one deserves to be seen on a big screen at a movie theatre.
